The counter top can be made of granite, tiles, stainless steel, or wood. The island might have built-in stove, oven, and refrigeration unit, drawers, cabinets, shelves, and retractable cutting boards. Some could even have grills. Racks can also be included in the design of an island. Be it for spice, knife, wine, pot, or towel, a variety of racks could accommodate these. Additionally, sinks with running water and high chairs can be added features.
